So Jonathan summoned David and told him all these things. Then Jonathan brought David to Saul to serve him as he had before.

When David came to Saul and entered his service, Saul admired him greatly, and David became his armor-bearer.

And from that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return to his father's house.

The next day a spirit of distress sent from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied inside the house while David played the harp as usual. Now Saul was holding a spear,

Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan and swore an oath: "As surely as the LORD lives, David will not be put to death."

When war broke out again, David went out and fought the Philistines and struck them with such a mighty blow that they fled before him.

And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
