Psalm 70
Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers
LXX.

For this detached fragment, broken off even in the middle of a clause, see Psalm 40:13-17.

Title.—See titles Psalms 4, 38

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD.
Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.
(2) There are two omissions here from Psalm 40:14, “togetherand “to destroy it.”

Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.
Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
(4) For a reward of . . .Psalm 40:14, “and put to shame.” The change is probably a copyist’s error.

But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.
(5) Make haste unto me, O God.—In Psalm 40:17, “The Lord (Adonai) thinketh on me.”
