ἀνταποκρίνομαι; 1 aorist passive ἀνταπεκριθην (see ἀποκρίνω, ii.); to contradict in reply, to answer by contradicting, reply against: τίνι πρός τί, Luke 14:6; (the Sept. Judges 5:29 (Alex.); Job 16:8; Job 32:12; Aesop fab. 172 edition de Furia (p. 353, Coray edition)). Hence, equivalent to to altercate, dispute: with the dative of person Romans 9:20.
