ויקם המלך וישב בשער ולכל־העם הגידו לאמר הנה המלך יושב בשער ויבא כל־העם לפני המלך וישראל נס איש לאהליו׃ ס Strong's Concordance Holman Christian Standard Bible So the king got up and sat in the gate, and all the people were told: “ Look, the king is sitting in the gate.” Then they all came into the king’s presence. Meanwhile, each Israelite had fled to his tent.
New American Standard Bible So the king arose and sat in the gate. When they told all the people, saying, "Behold, the king is sitting in the gate," then all the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled, each to his tent.
